We love it when a bride-to-be discovers Anna Schimmel through word of mouth. That’s exactly what happened when our beautiful bride Amanda saw her friend’s couture wedding dress. Amanda was inspired and instantly knew she had found her wedding dress designer.
Amanda brought in pictures of her ideal look to her consultation. She loved the on trend look of lace over nude with a mermaid shape and lots of layering. We decided to personalize the design but stay on look.
New Zealand Weddings Issue 55 has just hit the shelves and it’s packed full with beautiful gowns and great tips. We’re loving the page showing Ngahuia in one of our new collection dresses. Isn’t she just stunning?
Have you received the newest New Zealand Weddings Magazine yet? Check out the gorgeous spread on page 37. Our beautiful and truly lovely bride Vanessa has been named New Zealand Weddings Bride of the Year!
Our warmest congratulations. Well done Vanessa! xx
Spectacular sheer beaded back and subtly sexy silhouette – what’s not to love?
I have kept the collection to five beautiful pieces, opting for quality rather then quantity, new styles are being added over the coming weeks.
To try on stunning wedding dresses, discuss your ideal style, or just browse and meet me, drop by during our open afternoon. Every Saturday we are open 11am to 4pm, no appointment necessary.
Stunning Alex wore one of our favourite wedding dresses this season! She picked for her big day an exquisite piece of French Chantilly, detailed with intricate, wide, hand-beaded borders. The inner dress was a simple, short silk Georgette slip in a nude fine silk, with tiny shoe string straps.
Every Saturday 12pm to 4pm.

Drop in to meet me, discuss your ideas with an experienced designer, maybe try on a gown or two.
The signage is still to come and so are the blinds…
But there’s beautiful wedding dresses, exquisite fabrics and endless possibilities for your dream dress.
Finally I feel settled enough in the new place to get moving on our long announced ready-to-wear bridal collection. Here is the story of the first dress!
The initial idea!
Pinning various versions on the mannequin, I love this lace placement on the body, as well as the asymmetric pattern on the upper front. The light and romantic feeling the lace gives calls for a tulle skirt and fitted slip.
I had the tulle lace custom made in France and the design has been embroidered just as ordered. It feels great to know it’s completely exclusive to us.
With moving the workshop and our home it all has been a bit crazy! We have now settled in a little and the workshop building is finally coming along as planned. Our studio is currently closed until approximately mid June, then we will reopen in a nice new space!
I have a ready to wear collection planned to be launched by the end of July – it will be very vintage and quite different from anything we have done prior.
It really is exciting to be venturing into something completely new, I love being able to plan out a cool fashion project. There’ll be an official opening at some stage where you’re all welcome to have a look, try on and tell me what you think! A bridal studio in Sydney is already waiting for our new samples, giving me a motivating deadline.
I am currently fully booked for couture orders until May 2016, so if are already organised for a wedding at a later date please do contact me to discuss your perfect wedding dress while I still have space!
Before the big move – finishing some exquisite wedding dresses!
Dupion Silk Dress

Chamomile tea works a treat for tinting a white natural fiber to an ever so soft porcelain. In this case the exclusive French cotton guipure is only available in a stark white or an Ecru (calico colour).
This lace will be used over a nude silk shade so I decided to soften the white ever so slightly, to work better with the underneath.
