Olivia's Wedding Dress | Anna Schimmel

Anna is a wonderful dress designer.

The moment my mother and I walked into her studio she took us on an incredible journey to gift me my perfect wedding dress. Everything was so special, from picking the luxurious fabrics to choosing the perfect veil. I felt like an absolute princess in the dress and still get comments on how beautiful it looked.

Olivia’s taffeta wedding dress

When Olivia saw us for a consultation she knew she was after a dramatic wedding dress. Something for the inner princess, after all she was only getting married once!

Trying on our collection gowns Olivia really loved the very fitted, strapless styles with full petticoat and plenty of rustle. Ivory, vintage hues appealed to her and we had just the right fabric for her bodice.

A completely hand encrusted tulle lace in deep ivory and silver hues. The pearls packed tightly varied in size, creating a rich texture with a real couture edge.

Researching silk for a volumous skirt I remembered a swatch I had been hoarding as I had loved it so much.

A true ivory, almost light sand French silk taffeta. Plenty of crush, plenty of attitude. Putting the two together they matched perfectly.

To highlight Olivia’s waist we designed her taffeta wedding dress with a tight waist sash, and for a bit of drama added a large bow at her front.

Some fittings later, once the boned bodice was fitted and overlaid, we pinned the skirt on and Olivia had second thoughts. The taffeta wedding dress was so stunning – did she really want the bow? Would it take away from the great lines?

We decided on a compromise and put the bow at the back. It made for an interesting back, but Olivia’s small waist was still a real feature at the front…
