We’re still taking bookings for summer.

So many of the brides who are coming to see me now have their wedding planned for this summer. Usually the first question is: “Have I left it too late”?

At this stage we are still taking bookings for summer weddings. Timelines differ a bit, depending on the wedding dress you’re choosing.

The stunning Boho lace wedding dress.

Lace may need to be ordered – in some cases fabrics even have to be woven to order. Patterns may need to be graded or the style is still being fine tuned. Beading will have to be painstakingly hand-made.

However, we can usually make it work. Just last week a bride who’s flown in from Germany has booked her dream gown with us, and will be picking it up early December on the way to the airport.

Beautiful Low Backs

If there’s one all-encompassing trend of the season it’s the low back. It is rare for a bride not to ask for it and we are currently working on beautiful low backs in many different cuts and designs.

On the whole low backs work a lot better if you have straps, the straps will hold the wedding dress on your shoulders and you will be able to go pretty low before your gown loses shape.

Often very low backs featured on Pinterest or other online sites have a sheer skin net holding the back. Our skin net is French and it indeed is almost invisible and blends perfectly with the skin. Some of the very open backs, maybe with detailing on the very edges blending into the skin, can only be done with a skin net. Otherwise, beyond actually gluing your wedding dress to your skin certain shapes simply cannot be achieved. While invisible in photos even the finest skin net loses you this true nude look, which makes a beautiful low back wedding dress so sensual and understatedly sexy.

There is a whole industry which supplies lingerie for low backs, but here is what I have found works: Ultimo UK sells a brilliant low back bodysuit, which gives you a good low back, it’s seamless and has under wire and great cups. Good for most standard body sizes, but does not fit shorter girls.

If a girl has a small cup size bust cups in the wedding dress work well. A small bust doesn’t really need support, it’s more about adding shape and bust cups will do that. If you’re brave and can’t find anything that really works get some wide strapping tape and tape an underwire shape under your bust. While not for the faint hearted it works well up to a C cup and makes you completely independent of underwear, while shaping and restraining the bounce.

Once your low back is cut open to below the small of the back you will loose fit under the bust and in the waist. It is a tradeoff and before going this low it is worthwhile checking if the lower shape is stunning enough for the fit sacrifices you will have to make. Once a back is very low the wedding dress can get quite loose and may start to move about, rather than sitting where it should. Add a large and weighty train and it will hold everything down and in shape.

Low back wedding dresses can look breathtaking, but to look as good from the front as from the back, great cut is everything.  See us to design your perfect low back wedding dress which looks amazing back and front!

Silver Lace Wedding Dress

One of my favourites from our new bridal collection this stunning, silver lace wedding dress is beautifully romantic with a very European feel. The inner dress is slender tailored from a luxurious silk satin and feels natural and soft against the skin.
The rich quality of the silk crepe feels just formal enough, while being cool for a hot New Zealand summers day.
French silver threaded Chantilly overlays the complete dress and shimmers in daylight in fine hues of ivory and white.  And I just love the barely there, sheer long lace sleeves!

This wedding dress is just as beautiful from the back and I will post those pictures tomorrow:)

From our new collection: V-neck wedding dress

This simple V-neck wedding dress featured in our new bridal collection is cut from luxurious silk satin in a vintage ivory. The slender fitted gown shows a figure hugging, sensual silhoutte from the front and as you turn the dramatic, generous train inserted into the back panels catches your eyes. The back neckline is a low V and the gown is light and easy to wear, while feeling luxurious and flattering.

The separate, beautiful, hand-beaded shrug encrusted in sparkling beads can be worn as a cape or buttoned up to become a complete and eyecatching top.

Over the coming days I will be introducing our stunning new wedding dress styles, so keep an eye on our blog!

Charlotte’s Romantic Wedding Dress

Charlotte has sent me some first wedding photos and a lovely thank you (due to be featured on our brides page!)

I loved the exquisite wedding dress the bride wore, and am happy to be able to show some of her wedding pictures. There’s only a few, some from Facebook and some the images Charlotte sent me. So it’s not a story, more of a peek.

Beautiful Charlotte wore a pretty A-line wedding dress, with a very romantic off the shoulder lace top. The fitted, boned bodice was tailored with a feminine sweetheart neckline. Sheer vintage French Chantilly detailed the decolletage and upper arms. The flowing skirt was layered fully with fine silk chiffon and supported by a light petticoat for easy wear and perfect shape.

Coralee Stone shoots quite a few of my brides’ weddings and this again is her beautiful work! I have also included the bridesmaids pictures, as they’re fantastic, and will add a credit once I know who made them.

Charlotte’s dress has even inspired me to include one feature of her style in our new bridal collection. We will shoot it on July 9th, then you’ll be able to find out if you can pick the dress inspired by Charlotte’s romantic wedding dress.

Most of the new collection wedding dresses are finished and shown in the studio. Book a consultation to be the first to try them on!
